How can we watch TV on computer in real time?

I want to watch tv shows on my computer in real time.. Not on youtube or any uploaded video site. So is it possible for me to watch the shows i watch on my tv here on my computer? Do i need any hardware and stuff?

*Please don’t tell me to just go to youtube and watch it there. Because if that’s what i wanted to do then i wouldnt ask here would i?

You need to buy a TV card and put it into your computer.
